Workshop on Fichte's Transcendental Logic

Reading workshop with Alexander Schnell
10 June 2022, 3-6.30 p.m.
Location: RaT Research Centre, Schenkenstraße 8-10, 1010 Vienna
Registration at: rat@univie.ac.at

The basis for the reading is the second lecture on Transcendental Logic from 1812, published by Immanuel Hermann Fichte as early as 1834, entitled " Vom Unterschiede zwischen der Logik und der Philosophie selbst, als Grundriss der Logik und Einleitung in die Philosophie". In this lecture, Fichte gives an introduction to the logical principles of his Wissenschaftslehre in relation to the pure concepts of cognition. In a critical discussion with Kant, he determines the image as the basic concept of his logic and as the unity of Anschauung and Begriff. The course will focus on the reading of selected passages from the second logic lectures, on the basis of which Fichte's understanding of logic, transcendental logic and philosophy, as well as Fichte's conception of concept, judgement and conclusion will be discussed.

Christian Lehnert

"Auf der Schwelle. Von Religion und Poesie"

Poetics lectures: 5 April | 26 April | 10 May | 24 May 2022
Tuesdays 7 p.m., Vienna University Main Building: Lecture Hall 6.

The poet and theologian Christian Lehnert seeks out thresholds in four lectures. At the borders of language, he explores the kinship of poetic and religious search movements into the unsaid. The silencing of God on the cross and the opposing idea of creation as a linguistic event form the points of reference from which Christianity appears as a linguistic force that can never remain in what is said.
