Soteriologische Transformationen: Millenarismus

Millenarismus ist die Vorstellung einer soteriologischen Transformation, die für gewöhnlich die Welt umschließt (sich mitunter aber auch in außerweltlichen Sphären zutragen mag) und die zumindest einige von jenen erfasst, die an einer entsprechenden Vorstellungswelt aktiv teilhaben. Diese Veränderung soll sich (in wesentlicher Weise) womöglich in unmittelbarer Zukunft verdichten, hauptsächlich strukturiert durch eine transzendente Blaupause, die entweder von einer überempirischen Entität entworfen oder auf natürliche Weise durch ein unpersönliches Absolutes in das Gefüge von Zeit und Raum eingeprägt ist. Wissenschaftler*innen, die in diesem Cluster zusammenarbeiten, erforschen interdisziplinär millenaristische Vorstellungswelten der Vergangenheit und der Gegenwart. Dabei werden sowohl katastrophisch-millenaristische (apokalyptische) als auch progressiv-millenaristische Leitbahnen sowie deren Sonderfälle in den Blick genommen. Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf der millenaristischen Morphologie, wie sie in neuen religiösen Bewegungen und in den abrahamitischen Traditionen zum Ausdruck gebracht wird; aber etwa auch auf den Modi apokalyptischen Denkens in der Literatur.
